Trastornos motores laríngeos posterior a tiroidectomía

    Objetivo: caracterizar los trastornos motores laríngeos identificados en pacientes sometidos a tiroidectomía. Métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, diseño observacional, descriptivo de corte prospectivo, en el Servicio de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital Universitario de Caracas periodo 2021-2022. Resultados: Veintiséis pacientes sometidos a cirugía tiroidea. Veintidós pacientes (84,6%) no presentaron alteraciones según laringoscopia indirecta antes de la cirugía; cuatro pacientes (15,4%) alguna alteración. En el postquirúrgico, el 76,9% no registró alteraciones, y el 23,1% si se observó algún tipo de alteración. Diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p < .05) en el pre y post operatorio. Características como el sexo, edad, procedimiento, y tipo histológico definitivo se relacionaron con disfonía postquirúrgica. Conclusión: los pacientes que presentaron tono de voz con disfonía postquirúrgica correspondieron en su mayoría al sexo femenino, mayores de 50-60 años, sometidos a tiroidectomía total, y el carcinoma papilar el diagnóstico más frecuentemente implicado.

    Objective: to characterize the laryngeal motor disorders identified in patients undergoing thyroidectomy Methods: A quantitative, observational, descriptive prospective study in the Otorhinolaryngology service of the University Hospital of Caracas for the period 2021-2022. Results: A sample of 26 patients undergoing thyroid surgery was taken. 96.2% are women, and 3.8% men. Twenty-two patients (84.6%) did not present alterations according to indirect laryngoscopy before surgery; 15.4%, 4 patients are registered with some alteration. In the post-surgical period, 76.9% did not register alterations, and 23.1% if some type of alteration was observed. Both pre and post-surgical with statistically significant differences (p < .05). Some characteristics like sex, age, procedure and type histological were related with post-surgical dysphonia. Conclusion: the patients who presented tone of voice with post-surgical dysphonia were mostly female, older than 50-60 years, who underwent total thyroidectomy, with papillary carcinoma being the most frequently involved diagnosis.
