  • Resumen
    • The primary goal of this paper is to point out how memory institutions (such as Libraries, Archives and Museums or the GLAM sector, if we add Galleries) are creatively using collective intelligence to facilitate usage and a better description of their collections.

The change of links between users and memory institutions followed a line from mere receiver to co-producer, thus leading to user-contributed content. Collaborative tools from web 2.0, although not primarily designed for institutional information dissemination, are being used by memory institutions to engage the general public for knowledge construction. A few collaborative and creative projects are presented and analysed, advocating it as the best way to maintain links and renew relations between memory institutions and communities of users. In conclusion, the opening to new technological possibilities is not a fantasy but a valid contribution for memory institutions, a change of mentality that contributes to a better way of disclosing information concerning historical heritage.
