Agencia, materialidad y prácticas: lo que hay que tener en cuenta para estudiar, interpretar y articular a los imaginarios y las representaciones sociales

    Este texto se propone mostrar la necesaria complementación, tanto analítica como en el mundo real, de dos estratos ideacionales diferentes, las representaciones y los imaginarios sociales. Para estudiarlos, conviene tener en cuenta tanto sus diferencias como el hecho de que las representaciones sociales son una vía para acceder a los imaginarios sociales que, en cuanto esquemas culturales profundos de interpretación de la realidad, no son fácilmente detectables. Por otra parte, se sostiene que si bien tanto las representaciones como los imaginarios sociales son constructos simbólico-sociales en la mente humana, ambos tienen una dimensión material, con una historicidad y temporalidad determinada. Dicha dimensión material puede ser observada y aprehendida a través de las prácticas y rutinas de las personas y de múltiples concreciones, como imágenes, discursos y artefactos. De allí la importancia de considerar los aportes de la Teoría del Actor-Red y la Teoría de las prácticas que, sumados a la perspectiva fenomenológica, pueden brindar una mejor comprensión del papel que las representaciones y los imaginarios sociales tienen en la configuración del mundo.

    This paper aims to show the neccesary complementation, both analytically and in the real world, of two different ideational strata, representations and social imaginaries. To study them, it is advisable to take into account both their differences and the fact that social representations are a way to acces social imaginaries that, as deep cultural schemes for interpreting reality, are not easily detectable.On the other hand, it is argued that although both representations and social imaginaries are social symbolic constructs in the human mind, both have a material dimension, with specific historicity and temporality. This material dimension can be observed and apprehended through people’s practices and routines, and through multiple concretions, such images, discourses and artifacts. Hence the importance of considering the contributions of the Actor-Network Theory and the Theory of Practices which, added to the phenomenological perspective, can provide a better understanding to the role that representations and social imaginaries have in the configuration of the world.
