    Nuestro objetivo es revisar el tratamiento que las gramáticas latinas hacen de algunos aspectos de la negación, en concreto, los términos negativos, la doble negación y la negación del imperativo. Este análisis nos permitirá comprobar cómo ya en latín se verifican algunos de los fenómenos que más tarde definirán el funcionamiento de la negación en español y otras lenguas romances. Por otra parte, nos permitirá observar cómo, al igual que sucede en otros temas, estas gramáticas determinarán en gran medida el estudio que de la negación en español lleven a cabo las gramáticas tradicionales.

    Our aim is to go through the treatment that Latin grammars give to some aspects of negation, in particular, those referring to negative terms, double negative and negation of imperative mood. This analysis will allow us to prove how we find in Latin some of the phenomena which will be defined later determine the working of the negative in Spanish and other romance languages, are already proven in Latin. Moreover, it will also allow us to observe how these grammars determine, in great measure, the study of negation in Spanish carried out by the traditional grammars.
