La teoría de la titularidad de Nozick parte del supuesto, propio del individualismo liberal, de que cada persona es un agente libre sin más obligaciones que las derivadas de una idéntica consideración hacia los demás. De ese principio surge un concepto de propiedad en el que los propietarios tienen derecho a un control total sobre sus pertenencias, sin otra limitación que la "prohibición de uso perjudicial". Pero una noción así incluye relaciones distintas que deben ser tomadas como derechos separables y que deben justificarse por separado: aceptar la existencia de un derecho natural de propiedad no significa, como Nozick pretende, que ese derecho corresponda a la noción liberal de "propiedad completa". En realidad, no puede existir ningún derecho natural así.

The Nozick's Entitlement Theory starts with the assumption of the Liberal Individualism, that people are free agents with no further obligations than the ones deriving from an identical consideration towards the others. From this assumption, arises one property concept in which owners have right to a total control over their possessions, with no more limitations than "prohibition of damaging use". But a notion like that includes different relations those have to be taken as separable rights and those have to be justified separately: to accept the existence of a natural property right doesn't mean, like Nozick claims, that this right corresponds to the liberal concept of "full ownership". In fact, such a natural right can not exist.
