  • Resumen
    • It is well known that the women athletes engaged in strenuous physical exercise and endurance training may develop "atheltic menstural irregularities" (AMI). The endogenous opioids seem likely to be assigned a significant role in the integrated hormonal and metabolic response to exercise. OBJECTIVE: To determine menstrual cycle influenced circulating beta-endhorphin (BE) concentration in handball females players. The athletes tended to have slightly lower BE after exercise during the L compared with F, but this did not reach significance. The relative increase after exercise in BE was suppresed in athletes with no difference progesterona leveles in both, F and L phases of their menstrual cycle.
