  • Resumen
    • In this first paper about mortality crises in Minorca, we analyzed the deaths registered in the Sacramental Books of the Sant Martí parish (Es Mercadal, Minorca), from 1600 ti 1862. Methodology described by DEL PANTA et al. (1977), DUPÂQUIER (1979) and FLINN (1974) was applied in order to determine the chronology and intensity of mortality crises. The lack of specific documentation and the absence of deaths' causes, in almost all the studied time, makes difficult identify with accuracy the origin of the crises. Forty five crises with different intensity have been detected. Many of them have a chronology coincident with the mortality crises described in Majorca and other regions of peninsular Spain.
