  • This work presents the anthropometric characterisation of 200 individuals of Asturian descent, aged 10 to 14. The anthropometric patter was drawn up, the Body Mass Index was calculated and the somatotypes were represented according to the obtained data. The results show this slice of population does not present extreme values of body mass index, and how secular trends of growth continue unchanged when comparing this current sample with others from the 80s. Furthermore, the comparison with teen swimmers show that children who practis this activity develop sooner, both due to their choice of sport and the fact that training can alter the process of growth.
