The double-shoveling in the Spanish population is studied in order to get information about its incidence, morphological aviability, sexual dimorphism and symmetry. Low frequencies of double-shoveling (degrees 4, 5 and 6) and high incidence of faint and trace of double-shoveling (degrees 1 and 2) and semi-double-shoveling (degree 3) have been obtained for this population. In general, no sexual dimorphism was found, and also that it is a very symmetric character. Buccal marginal ridges were also found in second premolars and first molars, with an incidence lower than in the case of the anterior dentition and with very weak expressions. The comparison with other European populations indicates high frequencies of double-shoveling (degrees 2-6) in Spaniards. These differences could be interpreted as the result of varying bio-cultural adaptions.
