Dental characteristics are a valuable source of information for the characterization of human populations. The main aim of the present work is to analyse the frequency of nonmetric dental traits in two archaeological series of different chronology from Catalonia in order to characterize these populations. Moreover, from this data, the most useful characteristics for comparative analysis in our region can be recognized and they would allow us permit to establish differences and/or similarities between other series. The analysed series are: Plaça Vila de Madrid (Ith-IIIth centuries AD, Barcelona) and Plaça Vella (XVIth-XVIIth centuries AD, Terrassa). The sample is made up from 720 permanent dental pieces (353 maxillary, 377 mandibular) and were analysed by University of Arizona (ASUDAS) methodology.
