At the beginning of the 19 th century, Ronda was a city with multiple deficiencies in terms of health infrastructure, water and food supply, urban hygiene and a cemetery.
These circumstances propitiated a favourable climate for the appearance of epidemics, as would be the case of yellow fever in 1804. Morbo-Asian cholera in 1833 and 1855. In addition, there were other epidemic diseases that, depending on the living conditions of the population, appeared as typical social diseases, to become strong among the poor, such as: typhus, measles and smallpox. It is also worth mentioning that in some periods the Inclusa, due to the almost abandoned state in which it was found, caused illness and death to the poor children sheltered there. In addition, in this century there was a higher incidence of disease among the poor, due to the absence of what today would be the welfare state, although action in favour of the most disadvantaged began from the Charity system to avoid collective disease.
