The development of adenoid surgery has shown changes over time and it is necessary to observe the effect on the patient's related quality of life, therefore, the objective of the research was to compare sleep-related quality of life before and after adenoidectomy or adenotonsillectomy in pediatric patients 3 to 15 years of age according to the OSA-18 questionnaire. Methodology: comparative study, cross-sectional design, observing the effect on sleep-related quality of life before and after adenoidectomy or adenotonsillectomy in 50 pediatric patients aged 3 to 15 years. Results: age 6.58 ± 2.72 years; male 56%; 36.0% of the operated patients were at level III both on the Brodsky scale and the Fujioka index; the average of the OSA-18 questionnaire was statistically significant between before and after surgery (p<0.001) in general and in its dimensions, there being a decrease between the general average before (86.18 ± 12.406), in comparison to after (40.42 ± 4.185), it was also determined before the intervention was severe (62%), moderate (36%) and mild (2%), while after surgery it was determined that 100% were found at the mild level. Conclusion, performing tonsils and/or adenoids surgery has a positive impact on improving the quality of life in relation to sleep in pediatric patients.Recibido: 30-07-2024Aceptado: 26-09-2024Publicado: 01-11-2024
