  • Firstly, this paper develops the general guide lines of R. Tuomela's purposive-causal theory. His thought is within what he considers the mental causal theory. According to this theory, he analyzes intentional actions based on corporeal movements caused by certain kinds of mental facts, for example the willingness. Tuomela goes further away in his basic explanations accepting some kind of purpose, introduced by means of the concept of "intention". He seeks a link between causal and teleological explanations: the will generates the intention, which in turn may produce an intentional action. The effective intending, and the belief together may produce an intentional action. Secondly, this paper is focused in the explanation of action upon the notion of we-intentions. Social action requires the presence of a joint intention. Finally, considerations are given about the problems generated in the relation between the action and the members of group who carry on a social action.
