    El presenta trabajo parte de las primeras páginas de la novela La embriaguez de la metamorfosis, del autor austríaco Stefan Zweig, para extraer de ellas las principales características de la Administración burocrática, definida y analizada por el sociólogo alemán Max Weber a principios del siglo XX. Una administración que se caracteriza por su organización jerárquica, por su forma de mando autoritaria, por la racionalización y la profesionalización del trabajo, por la separación querida y buscada entre Administración y administrados, por el secreto, la opacidad, el misterio y el ritualismo.

    This paper uses the first pages of the novel The Post Office Girl, written by the Austrian author Stefan Zweig, to derive from them the main features of the bureaucratic Administration, which was defined and analysed by German sociologist Max Weber at the beginning of the twentieth century. This type of administration is characterized by its hierarchical organisation, an authoritarian way of command, the rationalisation and professionalisation of work, the distancing between Administration and citizens, the secrecy, opacity, mystery and ritualism
