  • Resumen
    • In this article a philogenetic approach of human ritual is developed starting from the formalized behaviours studied by ethology. The analysis of human ritual is maintained to be made from the point of view of both ethology and human sciences complementarily. The ethological notion of ritual cannot deal with all the levels in which human ritual is structured, but it can explore those aspects which make reference to its formal dimensions. This is so because the ritual includes individual and collective levels of behaviour by means of which, and using informative modalities, the human species has faced different evolutionary choices. Therefore, the ritual in human species is assumed to trascend primary philogenetic dimensions and to acquire a symbolic and communicative dimension which is acknowledged by ethologists and must be analysed by human sciences.
