Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is one of the most common neurological conditions affecting 1-3%people worldwide and having a tremendous impact on patients´ life. It is therefore crucial to elucidatethe pathophysiology of the epilepsies with the aim of generating novel antiepileptic treatments. In thisstudy, we have focused on the expression of CB1 receptor in astroglia, as there are conflicting resultsregarding the role of astroglial CB1 receptors in excitotoxicity. The hypothesis in this study is that CB1receptors localized in astrocytes of the hippocampus play a key role in the pathophysiology ofepilepsy. Here, we have investigated the CB1 receptor astroglial expression in the hippocampus of akainic acid TLE mouse model.
Loki-lobuloko epilepsia (LLE) mundu osoko pertsonen %1-3ri eragiten dien afekzio neurologikoohikoenetako bat da, eragin izugarria izanik pazienteen bizitzan. Horregatik, epilepsien fisiopatologiaargitzea premiazkoa suertatzen da tratamendu antiepileptiko berriak garatu ahal izateko. Ikerketahonetan, CB1 hartzaile astroglialaren espresioan zentratu gara, CB1 astroglialak zitotoxikotasuneanduen eginkizunari buruzko emaitza kontraesankorrak baitaude. Ikerketa honen hipotesiaren arabera, hipokanpoko CB1 hartzaile astroglialek funtsezko rola betetzen dute epilepsiaren fisiopatologian.Hemen, CB1 hartzaile astroglialaren hipokanpoko espresioa ikertu dugu azido kainiko LLE animaliaeredubatean.
