The aim of this paper is to shed light on the way Ambrose, Bishop of Milan, responded to the request of the Emperor Theodosius to celebrate the victory over Flavius Eugenius with special liturgies of thanksgiving. In Ambrose’s decision to place on the altar the bulletin with which the emperor announced the victory, we can see an attempt to normalize that form of worship of the emperor’s person represented by the veneration of his writings.
