    El beguinismo constituye uno de los movimientos religiosos más interesantes de la historia. Hombres y mujeres del occidente europeo vivían una religiosidad propia,fuera de los cauces habituales de la Iglesia. A fin de evitar acusaciones y persecuciones, muchas de estas comunidades abrazaron la Tercera ReglaFranciscana y se adscribieron a los terciarios franciscanos.El presente trabajo se inicia con una breve teorización del concepto de beguina para pasar, seguidamente, a estudiar el beguinismo en la islade Mallorca, haciendo especial hincapié en las relaciones entre estas comunidades y la Tercera Orden Franciscana. La larga cronología abordada permite establecer una línea general de la evolución del beguinismo y observar sus manifestaciones en las congregaciones religiosas surgidas a partir del siglo XIX.

    Beguinism was one of the most interesting religious movements in History. Men and women from Western Europe lived their own religiosity outside the usual channels of the Church.In order to avoid accusations and persecutions, many of these communities joined the Third Ruleof Saint Francis and were affiliated to Franciscan tertiaries. This article begins theorizing succinctly about the concept of beguine, and next studies the beguine movement in the island of Majorca, highlighting the links between these communities and the Third Order of SaintFrancis. The long chronology analysed permits to determine a general line on the evolution of beguinism and to observe its expressions in the religious congregations appeared since the nineteenth century.
