    Maruja Mallo es una pieza fundamental para comprender lo que los movimientos artísticos de vanguardia estaban llevando a cabo al inicio del siglo XX en España. Jugó con los intereses del surrealismo y los suyos propios para crear una obra poliédrica e influyente, con la que consiguió canalizar una forma profunda y compleja de entender el mundo y la existencia humana. Mirando a lo más profundo de sus raíces, preocupándose por el futuro y viviendo el presente intensamente. Todo ello se recoge en sus primeras pinturas y las numerosas ilustraciones que publicó en revistas y ediciones literarias durante los años 20 y 30 del pasado siglo. El inicio de una trayectoria artística que no dejó de enriquecerse con la experiencia.

    Maruja Mallo is a fundamental artist to understand what the avant-garde artistic movements were carrying out at the beginning of the 20th century in Spain. She played with her own interests and the ones of surrealism to create a multifaceted and influential work, through with she managed to channel a deep and complex way of understanding the world and human existence. She looked deep into her roots, worrying about the future and living the present intensely. All of this is reflected in her first paintings and the numerous illustrations that she published in magazines and literary editions during the 20s and 30s of the last century. The beginning of an artistic career that never ceased to be enriched by experience.
