For the moment, only one seal is known whose iconography and Middle Persian inscription allow us to identify its owner: King Peroz (457-484). The majority of the seals are known only by their impression on clay bullae and if the royal bust is sufficiently well preserved it is possible to identify the king, but this is not always the case for the Middle Persian inscription that accompanies his effigy. This article brings together some seals and impressions of royal seals and comments on their actual or fictitious inscriptions.
