La apertura y transformación que pretende poner en marcha la dictadura franquista en los años sesenta se materializa, entre otros aspectos, en la reinvención del turismo, primero como gran recurso económico, y segundo, como estrategia propagandística del régimen. En este panorama, Benidorm se convierte en el espacio clave para poner en práctica dichas políticas escénicas del régimen, que necesita una nueva imagen exterior, es decir, la creación de un gran frontstage, que, desde la óptica del desarrollismo europeo, significará el sueño de una vacaciones estandarizadas y accesibles a las nuevas clases sociales en Gran Bretaña, Francia o Alemania, herederas del “Informe Beveridge” y la consolidación del Estado de bienestar

The opening and transformation that the Franco dictatorship intended to implement in the sixties materializes, among other aspects, in the reinvention of tourism, first as a great economic re-source, and second, as a propaganda strategy of the regime. In this panorama, Benidorm becomes the key space to put into practice such scenic policies of Francoism, which needs a new external image, that is to say, the creation of a great frontstage, which, from the point of view of European develop-mentalism, will mean the dream of a standardized and accessible vacation for the new social classes in Great Britain, France or Germany, heirs of the “Beveridge Report” and the consolidation of the Welfare State
