    L’article parteix de la situació actual de globalització i analitza la situació de la llengua catalana a partir de la comunitat lingüística heterogènia i virtual, refugi d’ús de les llengües minoritzades, per desbrossar després com el concepte de “llengua oficial”, referint-se a la llengua castellana, s’introdueix a finals del segle XIX.

    Es repassa també en termes macrosociolingüístics l’estatus de la llengua catalana en els quatre països on hi té presència per tal de posar en evidència la (doble) diglòssia. A partir d’aspectes microsociolingüístics, es posa de relleu la importància de l’anomenada societat civil com a agent de canvi (transmissió generacional i conductes lingüístiques dels nou parlants)

    This article begins with the present day situation of globalisation and analyses the place of the Catalan language through its demographic weight and above all that of a heterogenious and virtual linguistic community, a refuge of minority languages and continues with an outline of the concept of “official language”, ie, Castilian, introduced at the end of the 19th century. We also study in macrosociolinguistic terms the status of the Catalan language in the four countries where it is spoken to illustrate the situation in which it is inmersed (doble diglòssia). From microlinguistic aspects, the importance of civil society as an agent of change, the importance of individual behaviour in the generational transmission and the linguistic conduits of new speakers is also analysed.
