    This text aims to present the Archaeological Heritage Charter of the current Municipal Master Plan of Porto (MMPP), discussing both its limits and possibilities. To this end, we will focus on reviewing an earlier version of the charter and explain how the new safeguarded archaeological areas were defi ned. By looking at the Porto 2030 Strategy defi ned at the MMPP, in which different city models/policies were discussed such as a smart city or green city, the importance of considering the concept of the deep city is emphasized. That is, a city model that values the mutability of spaces and their temporal dimension as an intrinsic characteristic of urban spaces and, therefore, understands the archaeological remains as resources to promote the quality of the urban spaces, the well-being of the community, and the attractiveness of the territory. It is from this perspective that the remains and other traces supporting the archaeological safeguarded areas are briefl y presented, demonstrating their multi-temporal character and highlighting their scientifi c, heritage and urban value

    Este texto tem como objetivo apresentar a Carta de Património Arqueológico do Plano Diretor Municipal do Porto (PDMP) atualmente em vigor, discutindo os seus limites e possibilidades. Para tal, serão explicados os pressupostos que estiveram na base da revisão da carta anterior e o modo como foram equacionadas as áreas de salvaguarda. Atendendo à Estratégia Porto 2030 que acompanha o PDMP, na qual foram ponderados diferentes modelos/políticas de cidade (smart city ou green city, por exemplo), enfatiza-se a importância de considerar o conceito de deep city, isto é, um modelo de cidade que valoriza a mutabilidade dos espaços e a sua espessura temporal como uma característica intrínseca à natureza das cidades e, por conseguinte, entende os bens arqueológicos como valiosos recursos para promover a qualidade dos espaços urbanos, o bem-estar da comunidade e a atratividade do território. Desta perspetiva, são apresentados, sucintamente, os indícios e evidências que compõem as diferentes áreas de salvaguarda, demonstrando o seu carácter multitemporal e reforçando o seu valor científi co, patrimonial e urbanístico
