  • Resumen
    • This article presented two of the new IRT models that can elucidate the construct representation of construct validity. These models were the rnixed Rasch model (MIRA; Rost, 1990) and the generallatent trait model for covert processes (GLTM-CP; Embretson & Mc- ColIam, 2000). The models were illustrated with applications to research on spatial ability.

In the application of MIRA, latent classes were identified that differed in the processes applied to item solving and in differential validity. In the application of GL TM-CP, underlying processing abilities were estimated that had importance for explaining age-related decline in spatial ability. Thus, the importance of these models for construct validation research was supported.
