    El presente artículo tiene como objeto el estudio de conflicto norirlandés moder- no (1968-1998) desde una perspectiva jurídica. Para ello, es necesario abordar correctamente el origen histórico del conflicto y las diferentes dimensiones so- cioculturales del mismo, destacando el papel de la religión. Tras retratar el estal- lido de la violencia a finales de la década de los sesenta, debido en gran parte a las protestas por los derechos civiles y la discriminación que sufría la población católica bajo el régimen de Stormont, se destacarán los diferentes intentos cons- titucionales de dar salida al conflicto hasta llegar al Acuerdo de Viernes Santo.

    Una vez analizado brevemente el contenido de éste, se tratará de realizar una reflexión crítica del mismo, así como de su contribución a la paz, estabilidad y convivencia en estos seis condados del Ulster

    The aim of this article is to study the modern Northern Irish conflict (1968- 1998) from a legal perspective. In order to do so, it is necessary to properly address the historical origins of the conflict and its various socio-cultural dimensions, highlighting the role of religion. After depicting the outbreak of violence in the late 1960s, largely on account of the protests for civil rights and the discrimination suffered by the Catholic population under the Stormont regime, the different constitutional attempts to resolve the con- flict will be emphasized, leading up to the Good Friday Agreement. Once the content of the Agreement has been briefly analyzed, an attempt will be made to provide a critical reflection on it, as well as its contribution to peace, stability, and coexistence in these six counties of Ulster.
