Ser o pertenecer: un falso dilema

    Nuestro mundo común se forja en valores, principios, costumbres, moral, hábitos e instituciones, pero, enquistadas en las mismas raíces, encontramos falsedades que se entretejen, tensionando y en ocasiones fracturando nuestra relación con nosotros mismos y con el prójimo. Una de ellas es el dilema que se ha planteado desde un tipo de pertenencia a la comunidad que anula al ser o la realización del ser a costa de la sobrevivencia de la comunidad. Sintetizada, la tensión es entre el individuo y la comunidad. En el presente artículo nos hacemos cargo de mostrar, desde Hannah Arendt, la falsedad de dicho dilema. En sus palabras: «El ser es oscuro si no llega a la apariencia (ante los hombres: dokein), y la apariencia (ante los hombres) es débil si no llega a ser» (Arendt, 2002b, p. 29).

    Our common world is forged in values, principles, customs, morals, habits and institutions, but entrenched in the same roots, we find falsehoods that interweave, straining and sometimes fracturing our relationship with ourselves and with each other. One of these is the dilemma that has arisen from a type of community membership that overrides the self or the realization of the self at the cost of the survival of the community. Summarized, the tension is between the individual and the community. In this article we take it upon ourselves to show, from Hannah Arendt's point of view, the falsity of this dilemma. In her words: «Being is obscure if it does not come to appearance (before men: dokein), and appearance (before men) is weak if it does not come to being» (Arendt, 2002b, p. 29).
