    En el presente trabajo se analiza la relación entre la religión y la salud en Cuba a través de su valoración histórica. Comenzamos destacando los momentos más significados en la relación religión-medicina-salud en Occidente y su influencia en los territorios conquistados del "nuevo mundo", tras lo cual abordamos en concreto su manisfestación en Cuba, destacando la influencia que en la isla caribeña tuvieron las prácticas y creencias ancestrales de los esclavos africanos, que luego se sincretizaron en un singular proceso histórico con la religión de los conquistadores, y que tanta influencia han tenido sobre la cultura sanitaria del pueblo cubano. Finalmente analizamos el estado actual de la influencia de las creencias religiosas de distinto género en el enfrentamiento de los problemas de salud en Cuba, e intentamos responder a su por qué a través de la exposición de sus posibles causas.

    In the present paper, an analysis is made of the relation between religion and health in Cuba trough a historical assessment. We begin by highlighting the most significant times this relation in the western part of the country, and their influence in the colonized territories of the "New World", after which we specifically address its manifetation in Cuba, highlighting the influence exerted on this Caribbean Island by ancestral practices and beliefs of African slaves, that later got intertwined with the conquerors religion, and the great impact it has had on the sanitary culture of the Cuban people. Finally, we analyze the present day status of the influence of different kinds of religions beliefs in the management of different health problems in Cuba, and we try to provide the reason for this by giving an explanation of its possible causes.
