  • Using scanning macro X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, the dimensions of the individual gold leaves on three panels by Gentile da Fabriano were measured. The results suggest that when used in conjunction with the evidence of guild regulations, such measurements my provide evidence about the date, place of creation and even authorship of a paonting
