    La penetración y el asentamiento de los pueblos germánicos en la zona occidental del Imperio señalarán el final político del sistema romano. Esto significó el aldabonazo que facilitaría el punto y final; los germanos son el factor externo que agravó la crisis de su sociedad. Pero esta crisis obedecía a causas internas, y las invasiones no modificaron el curso natural de los acontecimientos; se limitaron a modificar los elementos exteriores aparentes, el sistema político, dejando igualmente intacta la base social y económica del mundo romano, así como un derecho modificado, pero basado fundamentalmente en  leyes que se nutrieron de la Lex Romana.

    The penetration and settlement of the Germanic peoples in the western part of the Empire will mark the political end of the Roman system. This meant the knock that would facilitate the end; The Germans are the external factor that aggravated the crisis of their society. But this crisis was due to internal causes, and the invasions did not modify the naturalcourse of events; They limited themselves to modifying the apparent external elements, the political system, also leaving intact the social and economic basis of the Roman world, as well as a modified law, but fundamentally based on laws that were nourished by the Lex Romana.
