    Resumen Las últimas décadas del siglo XIX se caracterizaron por el movimiento de personas desde Europa hacia América. En el caso de Argentina, la llegada de migrantes provenientes de Italia generaron no sólo el arribo de mano de obra, sino también de todo el bagaje cultural que poseían. Esto se vio reflejado en algunas de las tradiciones ligadas a las prácticas médicas, especialmente las populares. En este artículo, mediante el análisis de documentación folclórica de las ambas costas del Atlántico, analizamos algunas de las prácticas populares a través de los ojos de folcloristas de fines del XIX e inicios del XX. A través de estos escritos podremos examinar la conformación de un campo de estudio y las impresiones que se plasmaron sobre la medicina popular y sus agentes.

    Abstract The last decades of the 19th century were characterisedby the movement of people from Europe to America. In the case of Argentina, the arrival of migrants from Italy generated not only the arrival of labour but also of all the cultural baggage they possessed. This was reflected in some of the traditions linked to medical practices, especially popular ones. In this article, through the analysis of folkloric documentation from both coasts of the Atlantic, we analyse some of the popular practices through the eyes of folklorists from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Through these writings we will be able to examine the conformation of a field of study and the impressions that were shaped about folk medicine and its agents.
