    Este artículo expone la necesidad de una propuesta que trascienda la hegemonía integral del liberalismo cuando se trata de cosmopolitismo. Es necesario comprender las múltiples posibilidades hermenéuticas del cosmopolitismo, lo que plantea la pregunta de cómo la teoría crítica puede hacer que avance el debate cosmopolita en el ámbito de las Relaciones Internacionales. Se cree que esta corriente elimina la marcada carga idealista-optimista impresa por el cosmopolitismo liberal, además de señalar no sólo las ventajas, sino también los peligros que puede presentar una realidad cosmopolita. Esta investigación cualitativa, con un enfoque hipotético-deductivo, se basa en una interpretación sistemática de textos de Filosofía Política y teoría de las Relaciones Internacionales, que señala los déficits del liberalismo para formular una propuesta cosmopolita de las Relaciones Internacionales.

    This article highlights the need for an approach that goes beyond the comprehensive dominance of liberalism in discussions of cosmopolitanism. It argues that understanding the multiple interpretive possibilities of cos- mopolitanism is crucial, which raises the question of how critical theory can advance the cosmopolitan debate within International Relations. This school of thought is believed to remove the markedly idealistic and optimistic bias imprinted by liberal cosmopolitanism, while also pointing out not only the advantages but also the potential dangers that a cosmopolitan reality may present. The article develops this qualitative argument employing a hypothetical-deductive approach and through a systematic interpretation of texts from Political Philosophy and theories of International Relations. Ultimately, it highlights the shortcomings of liberalism in formulating a cosmopolitan framework for International Relations.
