El género Sargassum (Phaeophyceae) en las costas cubanas. Lista y notas taxonómicas

    De acuerdo a los criterios taxonómicos más recientes dieciséis especies y cuatro variedades para el género Sargassum han sido referidas para Cuba: Sargassum acinarium (Linnaeus) Setchell, S. bermudense Grunow, S. cymosum C. Agardh, Sargassum cymosum var. lendigerum Grunow, S. hystrix var. spinulosum (Kützing) Grunow, S. filipendula C. Agardh, S. filipendula var. montagnei (Bailey in Harvey) Grunow, S. fluitans (Børgesen) Børgesen, S. furcatum Kützing, S. hystrix J. Agardh, S. hystrix var. buxifolium Chauvin ex J. Agardh , S. natans (L.) Gaillon, S. platycarpum Montagne, S. polyceratium Montagne, S. polyceratium var. ovatum, S. pteropleuron Grunow, S. pusillum Taylor, S. ramifolium Kützing, S. vulgare C. Agardh y se reconoce S. rigidulum Kützing como entidad válida. Se presenta la localidad tipo y las abreviaturas de los herbarios donde se preserva el holotipo de cada especie. Para cada especie se aportan datos adicionales sobre su distribución en la plataforma de Cuba. No existe la evidencia en los materiales examinados de los taxa: Sargassum cymosum var. lendigerum Grunow, S. hystrix var. spinulosum (Kützing) Grunow y S. polyceratium var. ovatum.

    According to recent taxonomic criteria, sixteen species and four varieties for the genus Sargassum have been referenced for Cuba: Sargassum acinarium (Linnaeus) Setchell, S. bermudense Grunow, S. cymosum C. Agardh, Sargassum cymosum var. lendigerum Grunow, S. hystrix var. spinulosum (Kützing) Grunow S. filipendula C. Agardh, S. filipendula var. montagnei (Bailey in Harvey) Grunow filipendula var. montagne (Bailey) Grunow, S.fluitans (Børgesen) Børgesen, S. furcatum Kützing, S. hystrix J.Agardh, S. hystrix var. buxifolium Chauvin ex J. Agardh, S. natans (L.) Gaillon, S. platycarpum Montagne, S. polyceratium var. ovatum, S. polyceratiumMontagne, S. pteropleuron Grunow, S. pusillum Taylor, S. ramifolium Kützing, S. vulgare C. Agardh and S.rigidulum Kützing has been recognized as a valid taxa. The locality type and the achronyms of herbaria, where the holotype of each species are preserved, are shown. Additional data on the distribution of each species in the Cuban shelf are provided. There are no evidences of presence in the materials examined for the case of the following taxa: Sargassum cymosum var. lendigerum Grunow, S. hystrix var. spinulosum (Kützing) Grunow and S. polyceratium var. ovatum.
