Cualquier destino turístico que pretenda ser competitivo debe considerar imprescindible en su modelo de gestión la sostenibilidad y ello implica dar repuesta a los tres pilares básicos de la misma: la sociedad, ya sea población de acogida o turistas; la economía, mejorando las oportunidades de desarrollo de los espacios turísticos, y el ambiente, a través de la gestión responsable de todos los recursos del destino. El objetivo de esta investigación es poner de manifiesto que, para llegar a esa sostenibilidad, es necesario implementar estrategias de formación que favorezcan comportamientos a favor de la misma. El método de análisis es cualitativo, propio de análisis en el ámbito social para abordar problemáticas e interrogantes que afectan a los individuos. Del análisis realizado se infiere que la educación está presente en las políticas y estrategias de desarrollo sostenible y que contribuye al turismo sostenible.

Any tourist destination that intends to be competitive must consider sustainability essential in its management model and this implies responding to its three basic pillars: society, whether it is the host population or tourists; the economy, improving the development opportunities of tourist spaces, and the environment, through the responsible management of all the destination’s resources. The objective of this research is to show that, in order to reach this sustainability, it is necessary to implement training strategies that favor behaviors in favor of it.The method of analysis is qualitative, typical of analysis in the social sphere to address problems and questions that affect individuals. From the analysis carried out, it can be inferred that education is present in the policies and strategies of sustainable development and that it contributes to sustainable tourism.
