A modo de una embajadora extraoficial de España en los años 70, Sanmao (1943-1991) creó un fuerte fenómeno literario en las comunidades donde se hablaba mandarín, en especial China y Taiwán, al relatar exóticas vivencias en España y su vida sentimental al lado de su marido español de Andújar (Jaén) José María Quero. Su importancia como escritora se refleja en la venta millonaria de ejemplares hasta la fecha de hoy. Sanmao amaba España. Consideraba a este país su segunda casa después de su tierra natal. A ella le gustaba mucho el carácter de la gente, el paisaje y la vida social de España. En el presente ya se ha convertido en un figura internacional y ya es conocida incluso hasta en España, algo que no ocurría mientras vivía ahí. En este artículo se resaltan aspectos nuevos de lo que se expuso en anteriores trabajos sobre Sanmao y España.

As an unofficial ambassador from Spain in the 1970s, Sanmao (1943-1991) created a strong literary phenomenon in the communities where Mandarin was spoken, especially China and Taiwan, by recounting exotic experiences in Spain and her sentimental life with her Spanish husband José María Quero, from Andújar (Jaén). Her importance as a writer is reflected in the millions copies of her books sold to date. Sanmao loved Spain. She considered this country her second home. She was fond of the people, the landscape and the social life of Spain. Now a day, Sanmao has become an international figure and an acclaimed writer even in Spain, something that did not happen while he lived there. This article explores new perspectives of previous works on Sanmao and Spain.
