    El análisis de las potencialidades turísticas de un centro histórico resulta fundamental para identificar y comprender los recursos culturales, históricos y arquitectónicos que pueden atraer a los visitantes y contribuir al desarrollo económico local. Asimismo, permite diversificar la oferta turística, revitalizar áreas en declive y diseñar estrategias de desarrollo que preserven el patrimonio cultural y mejoren el bienestar de la comunidad. El objetivo general de esta investigación fue analizar las potencialidades del centro histórico de la ciudad de Riobamba. Esta investigación adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, utilizó datos numéricos recopilados de fuentes secundarias y primarias, así como las experiencias de los involucrados en el uso de este espacio. Su diseño fue no es experimental, ya que no se manipularon deliberadamente las variables, y se clasificó como investigación de campo, ya que la recolección de información se realizó directamente con los participantes del fenómeno estudiado. Riobamba posee un potencial turístico considerable, destacado por la diversidad de atracciones y la satisfacción general de los visitantes. Sin embargo, se identificaron áreas de mejora, como la atención al cliente, que podrían fortalecer la competitividad turística. La inversión en el turismo puede impulsar la recuperación económica local, y generar empleo y crecimiento en sectores relacionados. Se recomienda un enfoque integral de comunicación para promover la conservación del patrimonio histórico-cultural y aumentar la visibilidad del centro histórico.

    The analysis of a historic center's tourism potential is essential to identify and understand the cultural, historical and architectural resources that can attract visitors and contribute to local economic development. It also allows diversifying the tourist offer, revitalizing areas in decline and designing development strategies that preserve the cultural heritage and improve the well-being of the community. The general objective of this research was to analyze the potential of the historic center of the city of Riobamba. This research adopted a quantitative approach, using numerical data collected from secondary and primary sources, as well as the experiences of those involved in the use of this space. Its design was non-experimental, since the variables were not deliberately manipulated, and it was classified as field research, since the collection of information was carried out directly with the participants of the phenomenon studied. Riobamba has considerable tourism potential, highlighted by the diversity of attractions and the general satisfaction of visitors. However, areas for improvement were identified, such as customer service, which could strengthen tourism competitiveness. Investment in tourism can drive local economic recovery, and generate employment and growth in related sectors. A comprehensive communication approach is recommended to promote the conservation of the historic-cultural heritage and increase the visibility of the historic center.
