In recent years the advent of digital humanities has increased the interest in herbaria wich provide concrete evidence of past and present plant biodiversity. Indeed, each herbarium specimen represents a unique and irreplaceable sample of a species living in a specific place and time. Herbaria also provide the ultimate record of plant characteristics from past centuries showing, for instance, how flowering times and/or other traits have changed as a result of climate change
