Resumen de En torno al sistema locucional del español en su diacronía
The following work, as a contribution to the historical phraseology of Spanish, deals with the prepositional locutional structure that is most frequently attested in medieval records. The relevance of the «preposition + noun + preposition» structure in the prepositional locutional system of medieval Spanish is undeniable and its analysis facilitates an understanding of the historical process by which some early locutional combinations became prepositional locutions in use today. This study looks at extracts from the first chapters of the second tome of the Primera Crónica General de Alfonso x (Estoria de Espanna), dating from the 13th century, and compares them to extracts from later chapters of the same work dating from well into the 14th century. The study of the process in question demonstrates, on the one hand, that the examples taken from the 13th century are not yet strongly fixed, and, on the other, that many cases can be considered by this stage in medieval Spanish to be prepositional locutions due to their evident lack of concreteness – as they develop abstract or notional meaning –, the great cohesion of their parts, and a high degree of fixation, such as a cabo de, a la cabeza de, a guisa de, a honra de, al pie de, a salud de, en lugar de, en medio de, por medio de, en poder de, en servicio de, en loor de, con ayuda de, por la gracia de, de parte de, a diferencia de … Other cases are yet in the process of abstraction (por amor de …), with an intermediate degree of grammaticalization and greater variability.
