¿Para qué sirve la poesía? ¿Qué tiene que ver la poesía conmigo? Más aún, ¿qué puede aportarme a mí un poema escrito hace un montón de años? “Para nada” y “nada” serán las respuestas de muchos estudiantes de Secundaria y Bachillerato. Y, sin embargo, se observa en ellos la simiente de quien sí puede disfrutar de la poesía. Muchos escuchan música con verdadero entusiasmo y se sienten identificados. Debemos, por tanto, ofrecerles experiencias de lectura que conecten con ellos, con sus vidas, con su sentir.

What is poetry good for? What relevance does it have for me, especially when considering poems written long ago? Many secondary school students might respond with “Not at all” or “Nothing.” Yet, within them lies the potential to appreciate poetry. Many of these students listen to music with genuine enthusiasm and identify with it. Therefore, it is essential to provide them with reading experiences that resonate with their lives, emotions, and interests.
