    El ser humano se ha preguntado siempre ¿quién debe gobernar y cómo? Las culturas clásicas occidentales y, posteriormente, el cristianismo en respuesta a esta pregunta, concuerdan en que el gobernante debe poseer principios morales sólidos, debe ser virtuoso y bondadoso. Nicolás Maquiavelo de manera especial en sus obras “El Príncipe” y “Discursos sobre la primera década de Tito Livio” se aleja de esta concepción separando la moral de la política, y establece un nuevo arquetipo sobre la figura del gobernante, resaltando en él la astucia y la capacidad de moverse entre el bien y el mal según lo amerite la situación, con el fin de preservar el Estado y la posición de poder. Este nuevo arquetipo, ha sido fuente de inspiración para importantes personajes y movimientos políticos a través de la historia hasta nuestros días, siendo precedente de importantes acontecimientos.

    The human being has always wondered who should govern and how? Western classical cultures and later Christianity in response to this question agree that the ruler must have solid moral principles, must be virtuous and kind. Nicholas Machiavelli, especially in his works “The Prince” and “Discourses on the first decade of Tito Livio”moves away from this conception, separating morality from politics, and establishes a new archetype on the figure of the ruler, highlighting in him the cunning and the ability to move between good and evil as the situation warrants, in order to preserve the State and the position of power. This new archetype has been a source of inspiration for important personalities and political movements throughout history to the present day, being the precedent of important events.
