El artículo analiza las imágenes propuestas por la exhibición de España en su segunda participación como país invitado de honor en la Feria del Libro de Fráncfort de 2022, concentrándose en la cohesión entre el programa de España, en los discursos que este produjo sobre la literatura, y la estética del pabellón y su exposición literaria. La obra de promoción del país invitado de 2022, que contrasta con la primera participación de España en 1991, apuntó a proyectar valores como la igualdad de géneros, la diversidad y pluralidad lingüística como marcas distintivas de una “nueva literatura española”. La construcción de este perfil identitario, que se refleja en los distintos niveles de su puesta en escena, lleva consigo en parte también dimensiones contrapuestas, frente al objetivo de la valoración del castellano como idioma nacional y global. El presente trabajo investiga de forma crítica la construcción retórica, visual, plástica y performativa de este perfil y sus intentos de revisión o deconstrucción de horizontes canónicos tradicionales y sus funciones simbólicas.
This paper analyses the images projected by Spain’s exhibition in its second participation as guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022, focusing on the consistency of its program in the discursive and aesthetics dimensions of its strategies and literary display in its pavilion. The promotional work of the guest country in 2022, which contrasts with Spain’s first participation in 1991, aimed to project values such as gender equality, diversity and linguistic plurality as distinguishing marks of a “new Spanish literature”. The construction of this identity profile, which is reflected in selections at different levels of its staging, also carries with it conflicting dimensions, against other goals such as the promotion of Castilian as both national and global language. This paper critically investigates the construction of this profile at visual, rhetorical, plastic and performative levels and its attempts to revise or deconstruct traditional canonical horizons and their symbolic functions.
