    The objective of this study was to analyze extension actions developed by higher education institutions thatresult in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, aiming to identify possible contributions to the community, especially those living in the rural area. We sought to understand the relevance of the university to review its ways of actingand interacting with the reality of the community that surrounds it, and the requirements arising from the transformations of the contemporary world. The methodology used was qualitative of a descriptive nature, with bibliographic review and documentary analysis. By conceiving academic scientific projects and productions as objects of social transformation, we can develop actions to put into practice the rescue and valorization of the culture and history of the peasantry, thus providing the construction and elaboration of educational activities that have a formative and awareness-raising character, towards confronting and overcoming the dichotomy between countryside and city. It is worth mentioning the importance of recognizing the knowledge of the peasant man, in order to collaborate in strengthening the identity of the children so that they can identify, respect and value their roots, starting from a range of information obtained by education and, thus building a world with multiple possibilities and a dignified way of life for everyone.

    O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar ações extensionistas desenvolvidas por instituições de ensino superior que resultam na produção e divulgação de conhecimento científico, visando identificar possíveis contribuições à comunidade, especialmente as residentes na área rural. Buscou-se compreender a relevância da universidade rever suas formas de atuação e interação com a realidade da comunidade que a cerca, e as exigências decorrentes das transformações do mundo contemporâneo. A metodologia utilizada foi a qualitativa de cunho descritiva, com revisão bibliográfica e análise documental. Concebendo os projetos e produções científicas acadêmicas como objetos de transformação social, podemos desenvolver ações para se pôr em prática o resgate e valorização da cultura e história do povo campesino, proporcionando assim a construção e a elaboração de atividades pedagógicas que tenham caráter formativo e conscientizador, rumo ao enfrentamento e à superação da dicotomia entre campo e cidade. Vale salientar a importância de se reconhecerem os saberes do homem campesino, de modo a vir colaborar no fortalecimento da identidade das crianças para que estas se identifiquem, se respeitem e façam valorizar suas raízes, partindo de um leque de informações obtidas pela educação e, assim, construir um mundo com múltiplas possibilidades e modo de vida digna para todas e todos.
