    La enfermedad de Alzheimer es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa, progresiva e irreversible, sin tratamiento curativo. Se caracteriza por un deterioro cognitivo, funcional y conductual, afectando notablemente a la calidad de vida del paciente. Esta enfermedad posee una alta prevalencia en la actualidad debido al envejecimiento de la población, teniendo un importante impacto sociosanitario y económico. Por ello es necesario la búsqueda de estrategias eficaces para su prevención y tratamiento, y el ejercicio físico es una de las terapias no farmacológicas más aplicadas y que han demostrado beneficios en los pacientes con EA. El ejercicio físico ofrece mejoras en la capacidad cognitiva y funcional del paciente, ralentizando el curso progresivo de la enfermedad y ayudándole a mantener la independencia y calidad de vida.

    Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative, progressive and irreversible disease, with no curative treatment. It is characterized by cognitive, functional and behavioral deterioration, significantly affecting the patient’s quality of life. This disease has a high prevalence today due to the aging of the population, having an important socio-health and economic impact. Therefore, it is necessary to search for effective strategies for its prevention and treatment, and physical exercise is one of the most applied non-pharmacological therapies that have demonstrated benefits in patients with AD. Physical exercise offers improvements in the patient’s cognitive and functional capacity, slowing the progressive course of the disease and helping them maintain independence and quality of life.
