  En el contexto ecuatoriano, la modificación de las pensiones alimenticias suscita debates importantes sobre la equidad y el bienestar de los menores. Este estudio se centró en analizar las percepciones sobre estos aspectos frente a los incidentes de rebaja y aumento de la pensión alimenticia. Utilizando una metodología mixta, se combinaron técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas para explorar las prácticas y percepciones legales actuales. Se realizaron análisis estadísticos para documentar las prácticas predominantes y entrevistas semiestructuradas para profundizar en las causas y efectos de las decisiones judiciales, manteniendo un riguroso estándar ético en la manipulación de datos. Los hallazgos indican que, aunque existe una conciencia de la necesidad de priorizar el bienestar del menor, las decisiones judiciales son influenciadas desproporcionadamente por las condiciones económicas de los progenitores, lo cual puede no alinearse con el interés superior del menor. Se concluye que hay una falta de uniformidad en la aplicación de la ley, sugiriendo una necesidad urgente de reformas que fortalezcan la equidad y la justicia del sistema legal para proteger y promover efectivamente los derechos y el bienestar de los menores en Ecuador.

  In the Ecuadorian context, the modification of child support payments ignites significant debates about equity and the welfare of children. This study focused on analyzing perceptions regarding these aspects in the context of reductions and increases in child support payments. Employing a mixed-methodology approach, quantitative and qualitative techniques were combined to explore current legal practices and perceptions. Statistical analyses were conducted to document prevalent practices, and semi-structured interviews were carried out to delve into the causes and effects of judicial decisions, maintaining a rigorous ethical standard in data handling. The findings indicate that although there is an awareness of the need to prioritize the welfare of the child, judicial decisions are disproportionately influenced by the economic conditions of the parents, which may not align with the best interests of the child. It concludes that there is a lack of uniformity in the application of the law, suggesting an urgent need for reforms that strengthen the equity and justice of the legal system to effectively protect and promote the rights and welfare of children in Ecuador.
