Resumen de Determinantes de la satisfacción con la vida en adultos mayores en México

  Siguiendo el modelo de Salazar & Arenas (2016) y mediante la estimación de ecuaciones de regresión y pareo, se estudian los determinantes de la satisfacción con la vida (SV) comparando entre adultos mayores y adultos menores en México. Se identifica que la diferencia entre los adultos mayores y menores en México se gesta entre los 60 y 65 años y que las personas de 65 y más muestran una menor SV que los menores. Por su parte, el contar con redes sociales, tener alguna filiación religiosa, la autopercepción de pertenecer al estrato medio alto o alto de la población y la satisfacción con el tiempo de ocio, tienen efectos positivos y estadísticamente significantes en su nivel de SV. Adicionalmente en México no se verifica la forma de U que teóricamente se espera entre edad y SV al tomar la población adulta como un todo, ni hacia dentro de los grupos de adultos menores de 65 o de esta edad en adelante.

  Following the model of Salazar & Arenas (2016) and using the estimation of regression equations and matching, the determinants of life satisfaction (SV) are studied comparing between older and younger adults in Mexico. It is identified that the difference between older and younger adults in Mexico is gestated between 60 and 65 years and that people 65 and older show a lower SV than minors. On the other hand, having social networks, having some religious affiliation, the self-perception of belonging to the upper or upper middle stratum of the population and satisfaction with leisure time, have positive and statistically significant effects on their level of SV. Additionally, in Mexico the form of U that is theoretically expected between age and SV when taking the adult population as a whole is not verified, nor within the groups of adults under 65 or over this age.
