El Alzheimer y la diabetes son dos condiciones crónicas de salud que presentan desafíos significativos para millones de personas en todo el mundo. Aunque estas enfermedades afectan diferentes sistemas del cuerpo, estudios recientes han destacado una relación entre ellas, donde la diabetes tipo II se considera un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo del Alzheimer. En el caso clínico expuesto se presentará un ejemplo de una paciente que padece diabetes de tipo II y Alzheimer. Además, se analizará la situación de la paciente por medio de las 14 necesidades de Virginia Henderson y se propondrán las intervenciones enfermeras más adecuadas.

Alzheimer and diabetes are two chronic health conditions that pose significant challenges for millions of people worldwide. Although these diseases affect different systems of the body, recent studies have highlighted a relationship between them, where type II diabetes is considered a risk factor for the development of Alzheimer’s disease. The clinical case presented will provide an example of a patient suffering from type II diabetes and Alzheimer’s. Additionally, the patient’s situation will be analyzed through Virginia Henderson’s 14 needs, and the most appropriate nursing interventions will be proposed.
