    La Unión Europea ha reconocido el importante papel que protagoniza el patrimonio cultural de los Estados miembros en el proceso de integración. En este contexto, el Sello de Patrimonio Europeo que surge al amparo del art. 167 TFUE, es la primera acción cultural liderada y coordinada por todas las instituciones europeas con el objetivo de potenciar el “sentimiento de pertenencia a la UE” de los ciudadanos de los Estados miembros. Para lograrlo introduce la categoría de patrimonio cultural de importancia europea que distingue cualquier sitio dotado de valor simbólico para la UE o relevante para la identidad cultural europea

    European Union has recognized the significant role of the cultural heritage of Member States in the integration process. For this reason, it has made its protection and promotion a priority action of the integration process. European Heritage Label, is a cultural initiative of the European Union supported by all its institutions arising under art. 167 TFEU with the aim of enhancing the “sense of belonging to the EU” of the citizens of the Member States. To achieve this, it introduces the category of cultural heritage with symbolic European value for the building European Union or European cultural identity.
