Análisis historiográfico de las Primitivas Constituciones de la Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios

    Introducción: San Juan de Dios, cimienta las bases de un novedoso modelo asistencial, que implica dignificar a las personas que trata hasta convertirse en el fundador de la Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios (OHSJD). La Orden se originó en Granada y se expandió gracias al Hermano Antón Martín, alcanzando relevancia durante conflictos bélicos y recibiendo reconocimientos eclesiásticos.

    Objetivos: Describir la estructura del libro Primitivas Constituciones de la OHSJD; analizar su contenido y proporcionar ejemplos de pasajes, y finalmente, examinar el concepto de enfermería.

    Metodología: Análisis historiográfico mediante la síntesis CAI (Clasificar, Analizar, Interpretar) descrita por Amezcua. El texto es un documento normativo con las tres primeras constituciones de la OHSJD.

    Conclusiones: Las Primitivas Constituciones se compone de 187 páginas divididas en tres constituciones que regulan la OHSJD: la primera de ellas está conformada por 24 títulos, la segunda tiene un título compuesto por 35 capítulos y la tercera contiene artículos del 1 al 144. Las constituciones cubren la organización interna, el cuidado básico de los enfermos y los roles de los hermanos. La enfermería que aparece en ese texto se caracteriza por la caridad, la espiritualidad y la atención integral a todas las dimensiones de la persona

    Introduction: San Juan de Dios laid the foundations for an innovative care model, which involves dignifying the individuals he attended to, eventually becoming the founder of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God (OHSJD). The Order originated in Granada and expanded through the efforts of Brother Antón Martín, gaining prominence during wartime and receiving ecclesiastical recognition.

    Objectives: To describe the structure of the book "Primitivas Constituciones" of the OHSJD; analyze its content and provide examples of passages, and finally, examine the concept of nursing.

    Methodology: Historiographical analysis using the CAI synthesis (Classify, Analyze, Interpret) described by Amezcua. The text is a normative document containing the first three constitutions of the OHSJD.

    Conclusions: The "Primitivas Constituciones" consists of 187 pages divided into three constitutions that regulate the OHSJD: the first of them comprises 24 titles, the second has a title composed of 35 chapters, and the third contains articles from 1 to 144. The constitutions cover internal organization, basic care for patients, and the roles of the brothers. Nursing in this text is characterized by charity, spirituality, and comprehensive care for all dimensions of the individual
