    Una breve panorámica sobre la evolución histórica, demográfica y económica del territorio cartagenero en relación con los molinos, nos conducirá a justificar e identificar los dos periodos más importantes de expansión del molino en Cartagena; esto es, finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XIX, y finales del XIX y primer tercio del XX. Serán dos etapas especialmente importantes para comprender la evolución y la situación actual del molino de viento cartagenero. Veremos sus diferentes corrientes constructivas, en las que se han ido recogiendo y superponiendo las innovaciones técnicas y tendencias arquitectónicas del momento, incorporándolas en su construcción, para identificar las cuatro corrientes que han llegado a convivir durante sus transiciones y que, marcando sus identidades singulares, deben ser tenidas como referentes antes futuras restauraciones.

    A brief advance of the demographic and economic evolution of the territory of Cartagena, in line with the references that have come down to us of the mills to the present day, leads us to justify and identify the two most important periods of expansion of the mill in Cartagena, that is, the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century and the end of the nineteenth and first third of the twentieth. These will be two especially important periods to understand the evolution and current situation of the Cartagena windmill in its different construction currents, which have been collecting the technical innovations and architectural trends of the moment, incorporating them into their construction, allowing the identification of four currents that have come to coexist during their transitions and that, marking their unique identities, they should be taken as references before future restorations
