  • Resumen
    • Starting from the premise that the attitude of observation is directly associated with the sensation of reality, the following article analyses how, in certain shots and later in the editing of the filmed images, there are narrative techniques and patterns for the representation of reality which, based on the construction of audiovisual time and space, cause a sensation of observation in the viewer and, thus, of realism. Taking technological advances as elements propitious to a better approach to real-life facts, this analysis examines the process of historical evolution of documentary realism and of different realistic trends in fictional cinema in order to then examine the area of television and its relation to reality. While considering the influence of narrative and style among the three genres, one also perceives the repeated selection of specific areas and themes which themselves carry obvious connotations of realism in any of these genres. The last part is dedicated to the docusoap, a lowbudget documentary sub-genre which, particularly in the U.K., has earned a place in prime time
