  • Resumen
    • The work of Raymond Roussel constitutes the most important historical precedent in the surrealist movement. In an indirect way, Roussel¿s novels and his theatrical adaptations prefigured a type of humor which came to mark all of the 20th century. The objective of the author, however, was not the renovation of humorous literature: the hilarious effects of texts like Impressions of Africa or Locus Solus were not intended. The strange characteristics of the work of Raymond Roussel are the result of his method of literary composition, based exclusively on plays on words lacking all narrative meaning and on the radical distancing from any form of sentimentality
